Condenser Microphone grounding?
hi i just bought a used akg perception 200
whenever i touch the metal mesh surrounding it, it makes a humming noise as if theres a problem with the grounding?
is this normal, or should i take it back to the store i got it from to get it checked. if i touch the metal in two different places, it doesnt make the hum.
My first guess would be the cable. Make sure you are using a three pin XLR cable that is XLR on both ends and you are connecting it to a phantom powered mic input. If you have checked that, it probably is the mic. Mics are very reliable is they are taken care of, so I would be surprised if it had a problem.
