What kind of Spy Microphone is Nancy wearing in WEEDS?
In season 3, episode 11 Nancy says she is wearing a $50 Lavalier Mic that she bought at a spy store and it is wirelessly transmitting her voice to her son's computer at home. Does such a thing exist? If so, I want one-- can you tell me what it is and where i could get one?
While many wireless 'spy' type of microphones do exist, many of the items seen in TV shows and movies are pure fiction. You can get lavalier mics, even wireless ones. But their range is very limited. A lavalier mic is just one that clips to your blouse or shirt or tie. If you look you will see them on newscasters. In the studio they can be wired or wireless but they don't have to worry about getting out of range of a Wireless Mic inside a studio. To transmit her voice to her son's computer at home she would have to be within a very short distance of home. If she were wearing bulky clothes and didn't face any kind of suspicion or search, then she could use a bigger radio with the mic and get greater range.
